Colorado

The portion of this area formerly known as San Luis State Park is now part of the larger San Luis State Wildlife Area, which as of 2020 requires either a valid fishing or hunting license for everyone 18 years old or older. Located in the central San Luis Valley southwest of the Great Sand Dunes lie San Luis Lake and Head lake, part of the San Luis State Wildlife Area administered by Colorado Parks and Wildlife. There aren't any true hiking trails here, but rather walk-in access to some of the roads to the north at the northern end of San Luis Lake.
